A century after Upton Sinclair’s exposé "The Jungle" ripped open the carcass of America’s meatpacking industry and shocked the nation, the horrors of America’s slaughterhouse industry just got worse
One of the many reasons I refuse to eat meat is that I will not participate in the slaughter and degrading conditions by the corporations who are responsible for these slaughterhouses. “As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will always be battlefields.”
I think it’s time to end the corporation. Businesses followed by the word “incorporated“ should be ended. No more hiding behind this legal construction that insulates groups of people from committing atrocities.
The duty of the corporation must also be changed from, profit at all cost without criminal repercussions. To justifiably responsible profit with criminal penalties for the corporate officers.
When reading the title "The Slaughterhouse Speed Trap and the Laws of the Jungle," I immediately thought it was referring to the Genocide both in Gaza and the meat grinder in Ukraine. That being said, it was about animal factory butchery another horror story attributed to voracious economic predation.
Interesting, how the highest classification of species Homo sapien is also the most sadistically bloodthirsty.
I also thought that, after reading the headline, that it referred to the stopping of the ambulances in Gaza and the subsequent summary execution of the medics. "Slaughterhouse Speed Trap" indeed.
"As long as man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other." Pythagoras
Day in, day out, for too many years, animal holocaust continues.
There will come a time when people will be utterly shocked that humans in the past were barbaric enough to kill animals to eat them when they had other alternatives that were healthier for them and for the environment. They will think "how could people have been so thoughtless and cruel"? I'm afraid there is no "humane" way to kill animals: there are only various degrees of cruelty. I don't see how anyone can agree to work in a slaughterhouse. Personally if the only alternative to that was to be homeless and starve to death, that's what I'd do.
Every person is unique, so I respect each person's path, but I have been Vegetarian 53 years & Vegan 37 years with so many benefits in health & wellbeing over these decades, I highly encourage people. Begin learning about all humanity's worldwide 'indigenous' (Latin 'self-generating') heritage of living in abundance alignment of the plant-world. Before being violently forced from homes without access to tree & garden foods, most indigenous peoples were vegetarian, compared to mainstream 'exogenous' (L 'other-generated') slave populations. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/b-ecological-design/2-responsible-compassionate-health
POLYCULTURE ORCHARD food trees (eg. Oak-acorn, Butternut, Chestnut, seeds, fruit, green food, mushrooms, sap etc) which are over 100 times more productive of food, materials, energy & water-cycle, than 2-D 'Agriculture' (L. 'ager' = 'field'). SYLVALIZATION (Latin 'sylva' = 'tree'). As empires spread, hungry for the hardwood Oak for weapons of war, forts, arms, ships etc. the main productivity loss is the indigenous, carefully cultivated 3-D POLYCULTURE ORCHARDs of all humanity's worldwide 'indigenous' ancestors, which because of: a) Polyculture's 92-98% Photosynthesis compared with 2-D 'agriculture' 2 - 8% photosynthesis. Agriculture’s all settlers & 1st Nations had left to 'farm' (French 'ferme' = 'contract of servitude by the peasant imposed by the armed aristocrat') b) Deep Polyculture roots descending many 10s of metres into the substrate mining minerals, pumping water, developing extensive nutrient colonies etc. being 100 times = 10,000% more productivity than agriculture. Actually, this calculation is very conservative. In my experience with both Polyculture & Agriculture such as a 50 square meter (7 by 7 metres) area under the pre-colonial average 100 year old Oak tree produced some 3 tonnes (3000 kg) of nuts/year with little labour except bring wastes to feed the tree. The same 50 sq. M of Wheat, Barley, Oats or Rye will produce only 3 kgs of grains requiring intensive mechanical ploughing, seeding, weeding, fertilizing, fencing & irrigation or drainage preparation. c) Polyculture's nearly complete ~95% photosynthesis of solar energy into food, materials, energy & water-cycle, creates an energy vacuum which drives warm moist ocean winds inland. 60% of Moisture transfer from ocean to continent is through condensation of these winds upon quadrillions of square kilometres of fractal leaf & bark surface. Only 40% of moisture transfers as rain-snowfall. 2-D Agriculture only photosynthesizes 2-8% of solar energy, creating High-pressure airs which push wind from continent towards the sea, creating permanent desert. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/b-ecological-design/1-indigenous-welcome-orchard-food-production-efficiencies
By far the best writing on the horrors of the meat industry since Upton Sinclair's classic book, The Jungle. There are srtrong reasons why other nations ban US meat, and Dennis Kucinich tells it like it is in this vivid, no holds barred, stomach-turning account about the brutality and inhumanity of the filthy and voracious meat industry, a part of American culture that degrades individuals' health and contaminates our entire way of life,
Improving? Meat is murder and the animal-based meat industry is a holocaust that should be shut down replaced by plant-based protein products. She's complicit in this evil.
In those cases the fetus is severely malformed and has no chance of survival and no capacity for consciousness and the woman's life is at risk from vaginal birth. If the baby is fine, it is delivered via c-section. Late term abortions are not elective as by that time the woman wants the baby and has elected to not abort earlier.
Until the fetus' brain develops the capacity for mind, consciousness, it is incapable of experiencing anything and is an object not a being. The fact is that 95% pf abortions are performed by week 15 well before the brain develops any such capacity, when the woman finds out that she's pregnant. The late term abortions performed on fetuses with severe malformaties with no chance of survival and the woman's life is at risk from vaginal birth. If the fetus is well formed, it is delivered by c-section. Late term abortions are not elective.
You have the same genome as the fertilized egg that grew from into a baby and an adult. All three are the same human beings and deserving of the right to life. A fetus can feel pain at 6 weeks when its heart begins to beat. Someone should rip your arms and legs off so you can know what fetuses murdered by abortion feel. youtube.com/watch?v=kHNzoZ4oheU
No limbs are ripped off up to the end of the 15th week. Late term abortions in which the limbs are removed are performed on fetuses incapable of feeling pain as they are severely malformed and the woman's life is at risk for vaginal birth. At the "late term" point, the woman wants the baby but it won't survive. However, if it can survive, it is delivered via c-section.
Obstetricians and gynecologists can only repeat the crap they've been taught in medical school until and unless they pull their heads out. One that has explains it well at youtube.com/watch?v=kHNzoZ4oheU
Temple Grandin, a renowned animal behaviorist and advocate for animal welfare, has made significant contributions to understanding and improving pig handling and slaughter practices, focusing on reducing stress and improving animal welfare."
Animal cruelty and human cruelty go hand and hand under current and past administrations. That's why rational regulations have been passed in the past but the current administration is being run by a mad man. The Trump regime must end. NOW!

Not much chance with the heinous Citizens United in place.
Sad but true
Check out movetoamend.org, there is congressional support for limiting their rights

I can’t even read this it is so sickening.
I’m vegetarian.
Me either. My best girlfriend's daughter is a vegetarian. Now, I know why.
People eat meat because we are
lazy.

Humans are fortunate in being able to live on a bloodless diet. You might call it a humane diet
It’s the most obscene horror show. I am a vegan. What we do to animals is horrific. We are inhumane monsters.
Science-fiction writers need not look far to get ideas of how aliens will mercilessly eat humans.

As a 45 year vegetarian/vegan I can’t bear reading this. But, I am so grateful to you, for your compassion and for fighting this good fight.

It is interesting to see how little credit that Temple Grandin gets for improving the humanity of packing plants.

So is abortion but no one is trying to reduce the pain that a fetus feels when its arms, legs, and entrails are ripped from it.
You should know from experience that vegans have shorter lifespans and lower intelligence than those who eat meat.

Until the fetus' brain develops the capacity for consciousness, it has none and is an object; A nonsentient fetus is human but it s not a being. Objects have no capacity for rights, beings do. Brain and nervous system development is everything (https://www.acog.org/advocacy/facts-are-important/gestational-development-capacity-for-pain).

Temple Grandin is the paid darling of agribusiness…
Who do you imagine is her paymaster, she having patents in her own autistic name?
Pigs too, or just cattle?
"AI Overview
Temple Grandin, a renowned animal behaviorist and advocate for animal welfare, has made significant contributions to understanding and improving pig handling and slaughter practices, focusing on reducing stress and improving animal welfare."
I only know about cattle, but she single-handedly eliminated aging rooms.

REFUSE FASCISM
OPPOSE OPPOSITION
Trump needs to spend a day in the slaughterhouse instead of cheating at Mire-a-Lardo.
Can't you let it at the door. We aren't talking about Trump.
Do you things he's up to that.
Who'd wonna
If he could
The only ethical choice there is is to be a vegan.
Elizabeth Kucinich - Thank you for a great article. It would be a shame if the truth didn't get a chance to be heard along with the lies from Big Ag.
Why can't I share this? Is my phone being hacked?
