The pro-war Democrats whose members of Congress support our constant string of no win wars are dismayed by the language of ending the constant carnage of the young, peace, and cutting ever increasing trillion dollar military budgets with alarm--revealing a big part of the problem. Thank you, Dennis! Keep it up! Time for a change!

Bull. The chief beneficiaries of a permanent state of war know no political allegiance. They know only their positions of privilege and advantage through their generous incomes. And how many working people depend on the "defense" industry for their paychecks? Don't lay it on the Dems' doorsteps. It's the profit system that has no conscience that lies at the root of all our shortcomings.

dear sweet doll

the MIC strategically scattered their factories across the country to assure that the "many working people" dependent on those war industry jobs would not allow their reps to vote down defense spending and to assure the reps who voted for the spending and wars were also assured of a job....just take a LOOK.

I can't imagine how anyone can believe that Trump is serious about doing anything positive. Lying comes as easily as breathing for him. if he does cut Milatary Spending he is only doing it to further his own agenda to be the wealthiest most powerful person in the world, He is dangerous. And it would be foolish to align oneself with Trump in any way.

You are correct that he is tremendously untrustworthy, but so is the leadership of the Democratic Party (they just talk a better game). I would support almost anything that would take down or diminish the MIC, as well as anything that would diminish the power of the intelligence agencies that serve themselves and the oligarchy rather than the American people. I think it makes sense to support any effort that bring us progress, and to oppose the efforts (from either side) that would take power from the American people.

It’s so bizarre how Dennis Kucinich has become an uncritical Trump Stan. He used to be such a reliable voice of integrity and even wisdom. Now I have no idea who he is but I miss the old Dennis Kucinich.

I think I like the new Dennis Kucinich. He seems to now have a strong grasp of reality and had been able to see through the corrupt left. The military industrial complex, big business, and big pharma have bought, paid for, and own our politicians. Congressmen and senators have sworn oaths to represent their constituents and their country. Instead, they quickly become corrupted by backroom deals that benefit the aforementioned businesses who graciously pad the wallets of our leaders.

I think the list of ways to change make sense and should be implemented into law.

WHYdidntEYEtakeTHEbluePILL's avatar

w/ all due respect, this is a delusional comment. 'controlled by musk', really?

liar - here's a question for you: who was president for the past 4 yrs? Joe was deemed unfit to stand trial in his classified docs case by Hur, we all saw what happened on that debate stage-those of us who are rational knew it was the case in 2019 (biden has had 2 brain surgeries late in life - where most patients prognosis is not good in terms of mental acuity/memory/cognitive function/etc).

only out for himself- the trump meme-coin is tremendous proof of his willingness to seize a moment and participate in crypto-fraud-pump&dump schemes.

however, the more we learn about social security, US AID it seems the DNC and washington careerists were using tax payers to fund their crooked deeds.

what hidden agenda are you speculating about, or do you have proof?

what hidden agenda exists with right-sizing the USA fed gov - which has occured before - including the military?

what does trump stand to gain by cutting the waste, fraud & abuse? You realize the DOGE team is only investigating and reporting using 'read only' means...meaning they cannot change the data but can SEE IT.

turn of corporate news - it is not your friend. it is not informing you nor entertaining unless you enjoy being worked up into a frenzy about fictional narratives. for instance: CBS 'news' who's sunday show host (Brennan) claimed free speech in Germany in the 1930's led to the holocaust.

i can appreciate it is hard to hear. our preconceived notions dramatically impact how we view EVERYTHING.

the late Daniel Kahneman had a great book about this: Thinking Fast and Slow:

https://www.amazon.com/Thinking-Fast-Slow-Daniel-Kahneman/dp/0374533555

4 weeks in and already Trump has pushed back against free speech censorship in the USA + now abroad with JD Vance's address to the EU, sought to protect female athletes and spaces from mentally ill men, cut federal funding to schools who mandate covid shots - which even Deborah Birx recently admitted these shots should have been targeted for the elderly/high risk oly, and DOGE is shining a spotlight on waste and fraud which went unaddressed by DC for decades.

trump is pushing for peace. we should all remain skeptical because politicians say many things and their actions often do not follow. but this is the most exciting administration in my life time.

The more people like Dennis Ohioans and the US citizens can get in to Congress and fewer like Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, AOC, Chuck Schumer, John Cornyn the better.

Noah - I loathe Trump and everything he has always stood for - and I felt that way even back in the days when he was an A-list celebrity making guest appearances on Oprah.

That said, the Democratic Party has pretty much died. For three elections in a row, they relied on lies, deceit, and dirty tricks to hold on to their power. Under Biden, we were brought nearly to the brink of armageddon.

I don't like Trump, and I don't trust him... but if he's going to talk about reducing global tensions, pulling out of wars of choice, reducing nuclear stockpiles, and cutting defense spending, well - that's a good thing - and something Democrats SHOULD have been fighting for all along.

Dennis is honest and we can always rely on him to tell the truth. Partisanship is for the brainwashed. As a lifelong Democrat, I have been horrified by the insane actions of my party that make Trump look sane by comparison. The Democratic Party has lost the true left. Ask Kit Carbello, Craig Jardula, Jimmy Dore or Cindy Sheehan. I wrote in my dogs in the last two Presidential general elections. Trump is actually to the left of the DNC. The fact that Tulsi (whom the DNC attacked for being too far left and more correct on most issues than the sold-out DNC) and RFK (who cares significantly more about the environment, health and the food supply than anyone in the DNC leadership) were nominated by Trump puts Trump to the far left of Kamala and Biden. BIden/Harris oversaw and supplied the bombs for the worst genocide in history. You can't get worse than that.

I think the Musk/Trump plan is to take the defense spending to the private sector, so private equity, Wall Street & billionaires profit.

Here is a paragraph from a Guardian article yesterday:

Musk’s plans have already excited Silicon Valley mainstays such as Palantir, whose executives praised Doge on an earnings call last week and talked about how the disruption by the billionaire’s strike squad was good for the company. Palantir already has won hundreds of millions of dollars in US military contracts in recent years for AI-related projects.

Why are you “carrying water” for Trump/Musk and their White, Christian Nationalist Party? What he is really doing is making a compact with Russia and China to support each other’s dictatorships. Just like making this “deal” with Putin about Ukraine is only to grease the wheels for America to annex Gaza, Greenland and Panama, if not Canada. And Trump didn’t need money from military contractors because he has Musk. These men are racists and fascists. It’’s all well and good to want to reduce the military industrial complex, and promote peace…..but “getting in bed” with this regime is so wrong headed. You are putting out a welcome mat for people who have done many illegal things, are destroying our Constitution, Courts and the protections they promise for ordinary Americans, and could care less about you or anyone but their “kin.” Haven’t you seen enough of the damage already inflicted to retract your support?
